Balloon flight with family East Flanders

Family balloon flight is conducted in a privately booked hot air balloon in the region of East Flanders. There are no unknown fellow passengers on board. The hot air balloon we use for this accommodates 4 people excluding the pilot. Each passenger thus has comfortable space to move around.

Take-off Locations

Spildooren Ballooning has several special take-off locations that we use depending on wind direction and speed. This way, our experienced team can always guarantee a safe and relaxed balloon flight.

If the weather gods are favorable, with moderate to weak winds, taking off from the largest market square in the country in the city center of Sint-Niklaas is one of the flight possibilities.

The other possible departure points for the balloon flight have a more rural and rustic character. At these take-off locations, we take to the skies together with numerous other hot air balloons. Breathtaking panoramic views guaranteed!

How does a balloon flight proceed?

The whole adventure starts even before you take your place in the basket. The balloon crew sets up the hot air balloon before departure. You can follow the entire inflation process from A to Z. While preparations are underway, you receive a personal briefing from the pilot. You will be thoroughly explained all necessary information and safety instructions. During the briefing, the pilot will also explain why hot air ballooning is the safest air sport in the world. This way, even the most stressed passenger can fully enjoy the approximately one-hour-long balloon flight.

We conclude with an extensive champagne aperitif at the landing site, accompanied by snacks and drinks. For our youngest guests, we also provide non-alcoholic beverages. With a traditional toast, we end this phenomenal experience in a cozy manner. On request, we also provide a traditional champagne baptism.

A fear of heights?

If some group members suffer from fear of heights, let that not be an issue! During a hot air balloon ride, you make no physical contact with the ground which automatically reduces nervousness.

What to wear for a balloon ride?

The clothing needed during flight is almost identical to what you’d wear on land.

  Certainly recommended! 

• Sturdy shoes
• Long pants

A thick coat is not necessary at 20 degrees Celsius. After the flight, it can cool down significantly at sunset. Therefore, we always recommend bringing a jacket that will come in handy during the aperitif at the landing site.

A hot air balloon is not much colder than on land. The cooling at higher altitudes is compensated by heat radiation from the burners.
